You are here: Career Plan for Artists> Career Plan Obstacles

You can’t overcome an obstacle by pretending it doesn’t exist. You need to see them, acknowledge them, and work to overcome them. This section is where you declare your obstacles loudly, clearly. What are they? You’ll use your planning in the next section to overcome them, so don’t worry about that now. If something is not an obstacle, simply write "none" beside that item. It’s just as important to know what’s working for you as what’s not working for your. Remember, obstacles simply make your personal story more interesting. Everyone loves a tale about someone who makes it despite the obstacles. Be thankful for your obstacles because they can be used as fuel to keep you going. "I’m going to make it despite" whatever may be keeping you down. This isn’t a grudge list, something to spit at. This is a list of hurdles you’re going to jump. You don’t place a lot of emphasis on a hurdle. Hurdles aren’t important. They’re something you don’t pay much attention to. They’re things that make you jump a little higher than you might otherwise. Jump it and leave it in the dust.
