Credit card companies are ruthless. Note to all - please read the FINE PRINT. I went from paying 7% interest to 25% 'cause I was three days late on a monthly payment.

Tip for maxed-out credit card holders: call up your CC company and talk to them about closing the account and lowering the APR so you can actually start to hack away at the balance. For first timers, they will usually come down a little - but if you miss just one payment, you're back to square one and they have no sympathy.

I stupidly had all my old-both good and bad- accounts deleted- now my creidt history is 'new' what can I do? I intend to refinance with scores in the mid 600's?

Why does our credit score take hits just because it is being checked? Everyday we hear about fraudulent charges or identity theft, and are advised to keep track of our credit scores, so why are we punished for the checks, if we aren't establishing new credit?
